This is from a body of work entitled 'Recycled Aphorisms and Second-Hand Platitudes', an exploration into the widespread phenomenon of positive ‘decorative’ slogans prevalent in our current society that exhort on how to be a ‘good/better’ person toward ourselves and others, and have become an increasingly common feature in homes and offices etc. The various pieces in the body of work are centered around a core of these positive-focused items collected from garage sales, flea markets, trash etc, integrated with the dismantled tacky, picture frames, discarded and recovered items utilized in the Un/Discard;Re/Form,Ergon/Parergon series’.
